Clothing as defined in the Wikipedia, is a fiber and textile material worn exclusively on the human body and the amount and type of clothing worn by humans depends on physical, social and geographic considerations. Some clothing types can be gender-specific.
Physically, clothing serves many purposes: it can serve as protection from the elements, and can enhance safety during hazardous activities such as hiking and cooking. It protects the wearer from rough surfaces, rash-causing plants, insect bites, splinters, thorns and prickles by providing a barrier between the skin and the environment. Clothes can insulate against cold or hot conditions. Further, they can provide a hygienic barrier, keeping infectious and toxic materials away from the body. Clothing also provides protection from harmful UV radiation. And according to it findings clothing may have been used as long ago as 650 thousand years ago.
The function of clothing is to improve the comfort of the wearer, by protecting the wearer from the elements. In hot climates, clothing provides protection from sunburn or wind damage, while in cold climates its thermal insulation properties are generally more important. Shelter usually reduces the functional need for clothing. For example, coats, hats, gloves, and other superficial layers are normally removed when entering a warm home, particularly if one is residing or sleeping there. Similarly, clothing has seasonal and regional aspects, so that thinner materials and fewer layers of clothing are generally worn in warmer seasons and regions than in colder ones.
Clothing performs a range of social and cultural functions, such as individual, occupational and sexual differentiation, and social status as recorded by the Wikipedia but am not going to discussed this aspect of clothing.
I am talking about the other functions of clothing not discussed here. The emotional and spiritual aspects of what a piece of clothing does on the body of a human. Clothes have been known to give a first impression to who a person wearing it is. It signifies what or who you are. In other words you can be defined by the clothes you put on. There is saying that goes, 'dress the way you want to be address'. Someone will respect or approach you by the way you are dress. Ever been to a ceremony, were the most dress is given preferences not because he or she is worth a dime but because they dressed to the occasion.
Clothes defined your personality, it gives others a vague impression of who you are even if they are not right. And that's the point am driving at! People will hardly know you by your true personality and worth by judging the clothes you wear. Its a fallacy that keeps me wondering underneath the fabrics who is this person? Clothes does more than protects one from weather conditions, provide barrier between the skin and the environment or hygienic safety and serving as a covering for nakedness. Clothes act as a shield from the truths of your emotional status and though it is made for the body, it also hides the soul and spiritual nature of a man. A man who is dying inside might be dressed up in clothes made of gold and it will take a closed relationship with a man like that for you to look pass his apparel and demeanor to know what is happening inside. A lots of times we based our judgement on people's clothing and style. If you watch the stories of Celebs who committed suicides they had everything going for them, things that other onlookers will envy them for. How very deceptive appearances are! Look beyond the clothing before assuming that your imaginative judgement of who a person is, is the true conclusions on his character. Even a thief is dress up in suits, and criminals dress as saints!
The true state of a man's mind can never be read off his clothing! People have worn their pains in their sleeves and hide their shame in clothes. Wearing designer's clothes and shoes with bags to match could be an understatement of a person's struggles. How are you sure he or she slept well the night before? How are you sure what they have on was not borrowed? How can you tell the debt incurred? Can you say by looking at a well dress man behind the latest automobile that he owns a house of his own? Can you tell if he is as eloquent in speech, as exquisite in character and as etiquette in manners as in his looks? A woman is more likely to wear her pains like a stilettos and carry her troubles in her handbag. All you will see is the beauty in them but beneath all that accessaries can you see the issues surrounding her life? While a man in suits might be term responsible, the one in a sagging jeans is call irresponsible. But the truth is you won't know which of them has charisma and which has character or both. You just can't judge a book by the cover! It is that simple! Clothing covers a multitude of deceits. I have been opportune to be in a place of service were the tardy dress client was the one who paid more willingly with less stress than the one who was clad in expensive adornment with great stress in beating down the transaction. Don't judged people based on their appearance.
Spirituality is not defined by your. appearance. A person might have demons possessed his spirits but his dressing might say, 'this one. can't hurt a fly' and he could be the most active religious leader you have ever seen but underneath that garment of a priest do you. have an idea? Yet another might dress up like a prostitute but inside she is truly in a closed relationship with God. How will you know the difference? Christianity or religion is a way of life not a style of dressing. You can not say you know anyone until you have a personal relationship with them and have been with them individually in their heads and homes! Whatever goes on there is package and clad in the clothes they wear!
